The regulations allowing for home cultivation of medical cannabis went into effect on October 5th, 2022. Cannabis can be cultivated by certified "patients" and designated "caregivers" 21 years of age or older, who are registered with the medical cannabis program. Only 1 person can grow on behalf of a patient, either the patient or the caregiver. A patient can have up to 6 cannabis plants in their home for personal use (3 mature plants and 3 immature plants). A "caregiver" can grow for up to 4 patients. However, at no point in time can a person, whether also growing for themselves or not, grow more than 12 plants (6 mature and 6 immature) at their private residence.
